James brings several years of experience working with Florida-based de la Guardia Victoria Architects. James received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Trinity College, followed by a Masters in Architecture from the University of Miami. An avid sportsman, James is thrilled to be back in the northeast and even enjoys the four-season Connecticut weather.
Prior to joining our team, Liz worked at VolumeOne Design in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. In addition to her love of design and literature, she's a musician with stories of touring the midwest with an eclectic folk band.
Will left Brooklyn, NY in pursuit of a healthy life in the country. Will graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Architecture and a minor in Chinese languages. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at Hiland Hall Turner Architects. Will is thrilled to be living in northwestern CT and has begun developing plans to build his own little house in the country.

Heide’s interiors are infused with wit, grace and beauty. Heide’s talent is complemented by an innate ability to guide clients in articulating their dreams. She forges enduring relationships with each client built on trust, warmth and shared joy.
Sarah Roberts Hale
Sarah joined Hendricks Churchill after several years programming and producing large-scale music festivals and community events at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, NY. She is a graduate of Bard College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Photography. Sarah brings with her a fresh perspective to the interior design studio. Her appreciation for art, music and fashion makes her a perfect fit for the interiors team.
Director of Finance
Ann joins the team with a background in hospitality and retail management. In addition to her financial responsibilities, she works with the interiors team as the purchasing agent. Originally from the Boston area, Ann moved to Litchfield County after attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst. When Ann and her husband aren't busy planning their next trip to Spain, she's prepping for a road trip to visit her adult daughter and son, who now live in North Carolina and Pennsylvania respectively.

Rafe’s mission has always been to create unique and beautiful buildings that fit perfectly with their environment and historical roots. This vision is matched by his straight-talking and realistic manner. With a compulsion for honesty in all aspects of the design process, Rafe is known for his ability to guide a project with a calmness, confidence and clarity rarely enjoyed by clients.
Prior to joining our team, Mel was vice president of sales and production for Comparti NYC, a catering and event planning company. She has a Bachelor of Arts in visual arts from Fordham University. Our fortuitous introduction was made when she and her family bought an 1800s farmhouse next door to one of our Litchfield County projects.
Prior to joining our team Adrienne had been working in the office of Brooks & Falotico Associates. She received a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from Connecticut College. Following years of helping her architect father with renovations on their own house, Adrienne is now renovating a cottage of her own.
Brent Kovalchik, RA
Brent joined our team after an impressive career working at some of the finest New York firms. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Kent State University, followed by a Masters of Architecture from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Brent has guided our team through several projects, most notably our award-winning Oblong Valley Greek Revival.
Ken’s construction knowledge and business experience provides him with essential skills when working through the construction administration phase of a project. He attended Southern Connecticut State University where he competed on their swim team. Outside of work, Ken's focus shifts toward his large family and their common love of the outdoors. He also leads our weekly cycling outings–one day a week, we knock off a little early and hit the road for an afternoon touring the rolling hills of Litchfield and Dutchess counties.
Junior Interior Designer
Andrea graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture. She was initially hired as a design assistant, dividing her time between the architecture and interior design studios. Her continued enthusiasm and fresh outlook has earned her a promotion to Junior Interior Designer as she transitions to working full time with the interior design team.
George first joined the firm in 2012 and has since worked on several projects including the Little Farmhouse Renovation, Larchmont Harbor House, Amenia Union Farmhouse and the Shingle Style Lake House. He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Architecture. An outdoor enthusiast, George enjoys fly fishing and hiking throughout New England.
