This 5,800-square-foot shingle style house is located within commuting distance of downtown Boston. The calming views of the nearby lake, a primary feature of this property, are the focus toward the back of the house. The front yard includes mature trees and naturalistic gardens rooting the crafted building to the landscape.
Referring to McKim, Mead and White’s Isaac Bell House in Newport, Rhode Island, we looked to create an authentic shingle style house while offering a comfortable interior for modern family life. The interior, unlike many historic shingle style cottages, is light filled with a gracious and open floor plan.
