Located along the Connecticut-New York border, this classically designed house enjoys breathtaking, uninterrupted views to the south and east. In order to take full advantage of the views, the orientation of the house was a primary priority. It was key to find a balance between the stature of the house and the magnitude of the landscape, while also keeping it appropriate within the area’s vernacular context.

An appreciation for the historic houses of the Hudson Valley gave momentum to our proposal of a modern-day American Greek Revival house. The goal was to design a classical country house, but ultimately let it remain understated enough in its detailing to be a true family home.
